Hi Troop 287,
I got to spend the day at Camp Alexander yesterday and watched the boys have a great time. It is so freeing for them to be able to let loose and just be themselves — with some guidance lol. I got to see most of them in a merit badge class — they seemed to be tolerating the boring part pretty well and really liked the rest of the stuff. We had the first Campfire of the evening. All the boys were singing, dancing and having a blast.
I wanted to post some information about Friday Night Dinner and Campfire.
1. Be ready for a hike — no open toed shoes or sandals. You will be hiking for a mile from the parking lot to the camp. They are in camp Kiowa which is at the top of Cardiac Hill (very appropriately named).
2. Dinner is at 5:15 so you want to get there early so you can see the campsite. (It takes about an hour and 15 minutes to get to the camp from the West Side – then you have to add in time for the hiking.) — You will pay for your dinner at the Camp Office which is just before you get to the main lodge.
3. Bring something to keep you dry, warm and a water bottle to drink, and don’t forget the sunscreen, a hat, and a flashlight for the walk back to the car. There are no street lights at camp.
So now for the good stuff. Pictures. — I tried to get all the boys — if I missed your son I apologize.
